AMANDA NICOLO, LmSW

Our work together is a collaborative and relational journey where values of curiosity, non-judgment, bravery, and humor combine to set a space well-suited for exploration. Sessions feel open, warm, and encouraging of insight and discovery.

I practice an integrative approach to psychotherapy that combines multiple modalities and responds to the unique goals and needs of each client. My practice is informed primarily through a psychodynamic lens, and I interweave somatic, expressive, attachment, analytic, and depth-oriented influences. Insights from neuroscience such as interpersonal neurobiology and knowledge of integrative nutrition inform my perspective, as well as mind-body practices.

Throughout the therapeutic journey, I hold a holistic horizon point for healing which includes the presence of the bodymind, of the sacred, and in finding meaning which, more and more, assists clients in coming alive to themselves.

Working with individuals in transition events is my specialty, including: midlife challenges, chronic illness and autoimmune conditions, grief and loss, parenthood and parenting stages, and adjusting to retirement and elderhood. I have supported individuals through loss in many ways, from long-term caregivers and those with terminal illnesses, to those undergoing divorce and separation. Clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, complex and developmental trauma, mood imbalances, and perimenopause/menopause find a safe, strong environment of support.

In addition to graduating with a Masters in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin in 2025, I have an MBA from Rice University (2011) and a BS from The University of Texas at Austin (2005). I bring professional expertise and experience from the business world, a twenty-year long-term relationship, motherhood, and personal experiences with significant loss and chronic illness. I combine my professional training and life experiences with a sense of care, safety, and commitment.

I hold additional training and advanced certifications in Jungian Somatics, Movement for Trauma (2023), motivational interviewing, solutions-focused brief therapy, and parts work. I am a member of The American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work, Austin Psychoanalytic Society, Austin Group Psychotherapy Society, and the National Association of Social Workers. A lifelong learner, I am continually training and engaging in learning opportunities which deepen and grow my practice.

I am accepting new clients for virtual psychotherapy, primarily for adults ages 18 and older. My fees are $125 per 50-minute session and $200 per 90 minute session. Please reach out for a 15-minute call where we can connect and, if applicable, schedule an initial consultation. Email me at amanda@centralaustinpsychotherapy.com.
